So, we said to good-bye to July and welcomed August in a rather unusual way at my house this year. With sickness. Briar vomited once and started running a fever on Friday, July 28th. You could tell she felt miserable, as all she wanted to do was be held and sleep for about the next 18-24 hours. By Saturday evening, she still had a mild fever, but was feeling better and on Sunday, she was still not quite herself, but eating and doing well for the most part.
When I got home from work on Monday, Laura and the kids had been at the zoo and we decided that we needed to go get some dinner. Carynn was a little grumpy, but she gets that way when she is tired, sometimes. By the time we had made it to the restaurant for dinner, though, she was telling us how bad she felt and that she just wanted to sit on someone’s lap. I could tell that she was definitely running a fever when I got her out of the car. Everyone else needed to eat, though. So, we ordered and ate as fast as we could and Carynn fell asleep in the car on the way home. She spent all day Tuesday sitting on laps and running a high fever. By dinner time she was starting to feel well enough to eat and when she showered for bed she proclaimed that she was “feeling a LOT better.”
Here’s hoping that the cycle ends with Carynn and no one else in the family starts running a fever in the next couple days.
EDIT 08/03/17: When Reid woke up having to go to the bathroom at 5:45 this morning, he felt very hot. My guess is that today is his day to be sick.
